Sentence Trouble: Communication and Youth Justice

'Sentence Trouble' is a short film produced by the UK-based Communication Trust to improve the skills and confidence of youth offending teams, lawyers, secure estate staff, magistrates and the police so they are able to recognise speech, language and communication needs and reflect on their own communication skills.
With nearly 50% of young Australian male offenders classified as having significant communication difficulties, 'Sentence Trouble' is an important role in raising awareness about the impact of communication impairment on some of society's most vulnerable members.
To find out more aboutthis issue in Australia, read the Australian Institute of Criminology's trends and issues paper, while the 'Sentence Trouble' website contains lots of great information, advice and resources.
