Lobbying & Advocacy Overview
Speech Pathology Australia is the national peak body for the speech pathology profession in Australia.
The Vision of the Association:
“Speech Pathology Australia aims to be an informed, influential and dynamic peak body of professionals striving for excellence and recognition for the profession of speech pathology and for the interests of our clients with communication and swallowing difficulties”.
In keeping with this vision, the first Key Result Area (KRA) of the Association’s Strategic Plan is to be an “Influential Organisation”. The strategic outcome of this KRA is that the professional view of Speech Pathology Australia will influence policy on all matters relevant to communication and swallowing difficulties.
The Association’s lobby and advocacy activities seek to represent the views of members and the profession and to advocate on behalf of individuals who have communication and swallowing disorders.
Activities involve making representation and submissions to government and key stakeholders. These activities may be on an ongoing nature or part of specific formal campaigns.
