Dysphagia Interest Group (DIG)

Audience:
The DIG is a fantastic way
of keeping up to date with current issues and developments in dysphagia, as
well as giving you and/or your health network the opportunity to network and
share information with others.
DIG holds regular events which include presentations and forums of current areas of interest in dysphagia management. Communication of events and presentations are distributed via email to members.
DIG welcomes individuals, health networks and students to become members of DIG to further enhance the community of Speech Pathologists working in dysphagia management across the continuum of care.
Meetings:
Dates: Around 6 per year, either 8-9am or 4-5pm
Venue: Various sites across Metropolitan Melbourne

FEES Interest Group (FIG)

Target Audience: The FEES Interest Group is a group of speech pathologists who have an interest in fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing. It offers a network for support, professional development and sharing of resources and knowledge. The group meets approximately 4 times per year to discuss current issues in FEES, research findings and case discussions including analysis of FEES recordings.
Meetings: 4 times per year. Alternating between AM and PM
Venue: Meetings are rotated around inner Melbourne hospitals.

Head & Neck Special Interest Group (H&N Sig)

Target Audience: The Victorian Head & Neck Special Interest Group meets 4 times a year to discuss current issues in ENT/ Head & Neck, Maxillofacial, and Oncology management. We discuss challenging and interesting cases, organise presentations on topical issues and plan special projects and external workshops. The meetings are often combined with FIG, VIG or DIG.

Language-Learning Disability (LLD)

The Language-Learning Disability special interest group is for speech pathologists who have an interest in the area of language-learning disability which offers a network for support, professional development, and sharing of resources and knowledge. This support also extends to speech pathology students and new graduates in formal and informal mentoring roles.
Meetings: 6 meetings per year
(1st term - 1; 2nd term - 2; 3rd term - 2; 4th term - 1)

Multicultural Interest Group (MIG)

It offers a forum for information sharing and problem solving around common issues and for the sharing of resources.

Speech Pathologists in Adult Rehabilitation (SPAR)

SPAR is an active special interest group, which meets Wednesdays of every 6 - 8 weeks to discuss issues and topics relevant to the area of adult rehabilitation. SPAR operates independently of the Victorian Branch of Speech Pathology Australia but forms close links with Victorian portfolios as appropriate.
Meetings consist of clinical and research presentations and workshops from both Speech Pathologists and other relevant professionals.
SPAR continues to be involved in sponsoring of relevant workshops and providing professional development opportunities at a low cost.
Meetings: approx every 6-8 weeks
Meetings are held at different rehabilitation centres across Melbourne.

Speech Pathologists In Deaf Education (SPIDE)

It offers a forum for sharing information about common issues and useful resources and for updating knowledge in current research and therapy.

Victorian Voice Interest Group (VIG)

The Voice Interest Group provides a forum for exchanging information and ideas relevant to the management of voice disorders. Meetings include presentations on assessment and management of voice disorders, discussions of current research findings, journal articles and case presentations. Considerations are given to the many varied caseloads including adult, paediatric, and professional. Speakers from speech pathology and related disciplines are invited to present on areas of interest. Students are welcome to attend meetings.

Individual membership $30
Student membership is $10
Membership of the Victorian Voice Interest Group includes meetings, regular minutes, updates and discounted fees to some voice-related workshops throughout the year.
