Terminology Frameworks Project
The Terminology Framework Project was conducted from 2005 to 2007 with the aim of improving the consistency and appropriateness of speech pathology terminology. The project had an Australian focus and a parallel international focus.
The major activities were:
- Working with the Australian Terminology Frameworks Reference Group to develop the Framework for Terminology Use.
- Working with the International Group on Terminology Frameworks – Communication Sciences and Disorders (IGOTF-CSD) on an international project to promote consistency in terminology for the field of communication sciences and disorders.
- Chairing a forum at IALP in August 2007.
- Sharing information with members through association publications.
- Producing several publications for members.
- A final project publication: Criteria for the analysis of speech pathology terms: challenges and a methodology.

IGOTF
IGOTF-CSD is an international collaboration of associations interested in improving the appropriateness, accessibility and consistency of terminology in the field of communication science and disorders. Speech Pathology Australia’s work on IGOTF-CSD has been generously supported by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training between July 2005 and June 2006.
