The online abstract submission is now live, and the 2022 Conference Planning Committee (CPC) invite you to put forward oral, poster and workshops presentations.

The Melbourne 2022 conference theme is Beyond Borders.

If nothing else, recent events have demonstrated the ingenuity and resolve required to provide quality speech pathology services. Specifically, challenging and changed times has reminded us to stretch and reach beyond our perceived borders to achieve excellence with our practice, research, information dissemination and client and family engagement. It has also reaffirmed that speech pathologists’ reach and impact is far and wide. Thus, we invite speech pathologists to join us in Melbourne in 2022 to share and discuss how we have gone Beyond Borders with regards to clientele, research, information dissemination.

Speech Pathology Australia values research which is consistent with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander peoples’ values and perspectives on research methodologies. If submitting a paper relevant to Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander peoples, please ensure within your abstract that it demonstrates the ways in which your project incorporates the following principles:

  • Origins in / driven by community aspirations
  • Engagement in community consultation
  • Collaboration with community
  • Involvement of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander peoples in project planning, implementation and reporting
  • Presentation includes an Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander researcher (in person or via video)
  • Use of strengths-based language.

Please highlight aspects of the conference theme – Beyond Borders.

Presentations which include an Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander presenter will be prioritised.

There is a two-step process at the start for the online submission where you select the option of 1. an oral or poster presentation, or 2. a workshop presentation. We request that you read the following instruction that applies to you, prior to submitting your abstract.

Submissions accepted by the Conference Planning Committee will be grouped under nominated themes for presentation at the conference. This will assist delegates to plan attendance at sessions that match their professional needs.
