CINAHL (Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature) database

Speech pathology is an evidence-based profession and Speech Pathology Australia is committed to ensuring the adoption of evidence-based practice (EBP) throughout the speech pathology profession in Australia. EBP is critical to the provision of quality and effective services for individuals and communities.

To assist members with implementing EBP and support access to full text articles, the Association has introduced an exclusive member benefitfree access to the CINAHL journal database.

CINAHL is a database of journal articles from more than 40 journals relevant to speech pathology and allied health, including the full suite of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) journals.

Commitment to EBP

Speech pathologists must use their knowledge, skills, and attributes to practise lawfully, safely, and effectively and in a way that upholds the Professional Standards. EBP is a key expectation. A commitment to EBP is the responsibility of Speech Pathology Australia, speech pathologists, workplaces, researchers, universities, and student speech pathologists.

One of four sources of evidence to consider in decision-making is external evidence from research, such as journal articles.
