This workshop will provide clinicians with practical and theoretical information about the latest evidence on differential diagnosis of more complex speech sound disorders including childhood apraxia of speech, dysarthria, phonology and resonance disorders.
Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Describe recent research developments in diagnosis of childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) and other speech sound disorders in children.
- Use theoretical frameworks to develop a diagnostic hypothesis in moderate- severe speech impairment in children and have tools to test their hypothesis
- Discuss the presentation of CAS across the lifespan
- Discuss problem solving in diagnosis of children with CAS who also have other diagnoses
Who should attend?
Registrants must be speech pathologists or speech pathology students in their final year.
This workshop is relevant for clinicians with some knowledge or experience working with children with apraxia (dyspraxia) or other moderate-severe speech disorders.
