Online: Paediatric Fluency: What to do when?

Workshop summary

This workshop will run across two half day ONLINE sessions from 2-6 pm AEDT 
Part 1 - Wednesday 22 April 2020
Part 2 - Wednesday 29 April 2020
Sessions will be live, broadcast from 2-6 pm (AEST) and will not be recorded, or available for later viewing. This online live workshop aims to reduce the need for participants to travel. Registration will be for 1 person per site. Attendance is required for both sessions.

This workshop is designed to update and upskill clinicians working with children who stutter. 
We will review current EBP for assessment, intervention and all service delivery models. 
We will share tips and tricks that will enhance your confidence, efficiency and efficacy as a fluency clinician.

This workshop is ONLINE. You will be sent log on details prior to the workshop as you may need to download videoconferencing software to your computer.
A webcam and inbuilt microphone are also preferable so you can fully participate.

Learning objectives

Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the changes, trends and practices in paediatric stuttering; 
  • Compare the assessment and treatment practices available for children 2-12 years;
  • Consider different service delivery models and how they suit clients and clinicians;
  • Discuss and develop plans for some typical ‘real-world’ clients;
  • Identify a framework for approaching complex clients; and.
  • Advocate for clients who stutter with their parents and teachers.

Who should attend?

This is relevant for speech pathologists whose caseload is or will be children aged 2-12 years who present for fluency/stuttering assessment and intervention; and/or who want to further develop, or review their clinical skills relating to the assessment treatment of stuttering in children 2-12 years of age.
This workshop is not a replacement for Lidcombe Program Training. Direct Lidcombe Program training will not be given.
Speech pathology students who have undertaken the relevant lectures and/or coursework and/or clinical placements are welcome to attend.
This workshop is a REPEAT of face to face and online workshops offered in 2019.

  • Registrants will also be required to watch a 1 hour preparation presentation prior to attending the live workshops.  A link will be sent via email one week before.
