This workshop will provide clinicians with practical information about the latest evidence based treatments for childhood apraxia of speech. We will focus on treatments with the best evidence (DTTC, ReST, IPA & NDP3). Other treatments will be discussed if time permits.
Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will:
- Understand recent research developments in treatment of childhood apraxia of speech (CAS)
- Know about free resources which will help them implement evidence based practice in treatment of CAS
- Practice providing treatment in two of the evidence based treatments of CAS
- Discuss problem solving in treatment of children with CAS who also have other diagnoses.
Who should attend?
Registrants must be speech pathologists or speech pathology students in their final year.
This workshop is relevant for clinicians with some knowledge or experience working with children with apraxia (dyspraxia) or other severe speech disorders.
Before the workshop
Participants should think about a case they would like to share with other participants and make sure they can recall age, comorbidities, previous therapy history, speech inventory and what works or doesn’t work in therapy.
Bring a smart phone with internet access for polls.
