Supporting adolescent clients with oral and written language difficulties can be challenging! This highly interactive workshop will address how we can provide evidence-based services that are both therapeutically effective as well as being engaging and personally meaningful for these clients.
successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
Better understand the many aspects of oral and written language difficulties experienced by adolescent clients, and the impact on their personal and academic development.
- Consider a range of both formal and informal language assessment tools, their relevance for use with this age-group, as well as gaps in availability and what we can do in these instances.
- Consider the range of service delivery models that are available to SLPs, and in what circumstances each approach may be utilised effectively.
- Develop a range of effective oral and written language intervention resources for immediate use with adolescent clients. These will include evidence-based and clinical best practice strategies to support clients’ vocabulary skills, written expression and reading comprehension.
