This workshop is designed to update and upskill clinicians working with children who stutter. We will review current EBP, including use of the 2025 SPA Stuttering Practice Guideline, for assessment, intervention and all service delivery models. Practical strategies to enhance your confidence, efficiency and efficacy as a fluency clinician will be provided.
Dr Kate Bridgman
Dr Kate Bridgman has been a speech pathologist for 17 years. She has worked in regional and metropolitan community health and private practice. Kate completed her PhD with the Australian Stuttering Research Centre, investigating telehealth delivery of the Lidcombe Program. She has presented at National and International conferences. Kate currently works at La Trobe University and in private practice. Kate has recently published research investigating the clinical practices of SLPs who treat stuttering and translation of EBP.
Dr Shane Erickson
Dr Shane Erickson has a passion for integrating the best available research evidence into his clinical practice, which consists of treating people who stutter across the lifespan. This passion comes from Shane’s combined role as a speech pathologist, researcher, and lecturer at La Trobe University. He teaches speech pathology students about stuttering across the lifespan and the important role of using evidence in clinical decision-making. Shane’s research, which he has published and presented at international and national conferences, includes investigating the psychosocial impact of stuttering, the use of technology to provide services, and the perspectives and practices of SLPs working in the area. Shane is a project officer on the 2025 SPA stuttering practice guideline.
What should I expect in this LIVE Online session?
LIVE Online events are interactive workshops. Cameras are usually on, and participants are encouraged to take part in activities, discussions, and opportunities to share thoughts and answers throughout the session. You may also be invited to ask verbal questions directly to the presenter. By registering for this event, you are providing consent to be placed into break out rooms, should the presenter wish to incorporate these in their session. Break out rooms are not recorded.
Will there be breaks in the session?
Each presenter determines their own schedule and break times, and these will be communicated at the start of the session. Participants are welcome to turn off their camera and take a break at any time throughout the session, at their own discretion.
Do I need a Zoom account to join?
No – most participants can join directly using the Zoom link provided. Occasionally, Zoom may prompt you to sign in, especially if you’re joining via a browser or mobile device. If that happens, you can create a free Zoom account or sign in to an existing one.
When will I receive the Zoom link for this event?
You’ll receive an email with the Zoom link, password, and workshop timing on the morning of the event. Please check your junk/spam folder if you don’t see it. Please note the time zone of the event within this email. You can also access the link by going to your Learning Centre in the Learning Hub and clicking on the ‘attend’ button.
Will this event be recorded?
Yes. If you are unable to attend the LIVE session, you can still register with the intention of watching the recording. Recordings are available for 4 weeks after the event.
Will the recording be the same as the live session?
Some interactive sections, such as polls and breakout activities, may not be recorded or could be edited out. In addition, some videos shown during the presentation, such as therapy clips, may also be removed from the final version.
Where can I find the recording?
Recordings are uploaded into the Discussion Forum section in your Learning Centre within 2 business days and remain available for 4 weeks for registered participants.
Will there be pre-work to complete for this event?

All resources are uploaded to the Resources tab, accessible via your Learning Centre within the Learning Hub. If the presenter has shared their slides, these will also be downloadable via the Resources tab.
