We’re delighted to share some insider tips to help you make the most of your time in Yugambeh / Gold Coast, curated with input from some of our Queensland Branch members. Whether you’re exploring the coastline or heading for the Hinterland, there’s something for everyone.

Things to do

Coastal highlights

• Discover Aboriginal culture, Dreaming stories and enduring connection to Country on a guided walking tour with Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Local tip: pair it with a walk through the Burleigh headland tracks for sweeping ocean views.
• Walk the coastal path from Burleigh Headland to Miami, or continue over Burleigh/Miami Hill and the rainbow stairs. Local tip: stop mid-afternoon at Rick Shores for their famous Moreton Bay bug rolls.
• Visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary to meet native wildlife up close, or stroll the nearby boardwalk along Currumbin Creek.
• Enjoy art, film and performance at HOTA, Home of the Arts. Local tip: take a lap of Evandale Lake and stop for coffee at the HOTA Café.
• Make a night of it at Miami Marketta – food stalls, live music and often drag queen bingo on Wednesdays.
• Experience 360° views of the of the Gold Coast and enjoy dinner against a stunning backdrop at Skypoint.

Local tip: traffic can be slower south of Broadbeach due to tram construction – allow extra time if heading to Burleigh, Palm Beach or Currumbin.

Hinterland escapes

• Head inland to Springbrook National Park or Tamborine Mountain for waterfalls, rainforest walks and local village cafés. Local tip: the Twin Falls Circuit is a favourite!
• Recharge in Currumbin Valley at Ground for a soak beneath the fig trees, followed by lunch at Pasture & Co.
• Enjoy winery and tasting trails with Pineapple Tours or Cork ‘n’ Fork, or try the Canyon Flyer Zipline for an adrenaline boost.

Northern and classic attractions

• Enjoy an afternoon strolling through the Broadwater Parklands.
• Take a walk along the Koala Trail at Arundel and see if you can spot koalas and kangaroos in the wild (remember to keep a respectful distance).
• Explore the Federation Walk at The Spit or cruise the waterways aboard Hopo Sightseeing Cruises.
• See the marine life at Sea World, experience thrills at Movie World or Dreamworld, or unwind with shopping at Harbour Town.
