What’s in it for you?

It’s a good question. And one with a very simple answer. Membership has its benefits!

Speech Pathology Australia (the Association) is the national peak body for the speech pathology profession in Australia.

When you join the Association you get access to a range of professional, clinical and personal benefits.

These include, amongst many others:

  • a discount on professional indemnity insurance
  • access to a dedicated online member portal with more than 550 resources for members
  • access to our member community the Member Hub to help you connect with other members
  • access to the Association’s senior advisors

  • member only access to Association journals, documents and publications
  • and much, much more...

Enhance your clinical and professional skills

Membership of the Association provides you with access to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program that reflects the diversity of clinical areas and/or employment that speech pathologists work within, and the scope of their practice. The program is provided in a variety of accessible formats: face-to-face workshops, online events and resources, recordings of events, and social media platforms.

In addition, each year the Association conducts an Annual Conference for the benefit of its members and the speech pathology profession. The event provides delegates with a prime opportunity to update their knowledge and skills, while building networks to enable them to remain leaders in a competitive field.

Members registering for the professional education program and annual conference do so at discounted member rates.

You are joining a national organisation

The Association is a national organisation with state and territory Branches.

Each Branch has an Executive that comprises volunteer speech pathologists from a range of settings, including: health, disability, education and private practice. Branches provide a forum for the discussion of issues impacting on the speech pathology profession, as well as social and networking opportunities.

Who joins?

Membership of the Association is open to applicants who have an approved primary qualification in speech pathology from an Australian accredited university course. Student membership is available to students enrolled in a recognised course accredited by the Association.

Overseas trained applicants should refer to information on Overseas Qualifications.
